Social Equity

Yoga has the potential to make a significant impact on social justice issues.

Kim is passionately involved in the emerging movement that seeks to use the principles and teachings of yoga to promote social justice and activism.

Seeing the destruction Covid caused on minority groups in her community – she opened her home as a foster carer, providing safely + care for at-risk youth.

This continues to be a large part of her work. Kim describes this as one of “Yoga’s greatest gifts – using mindfulness, self-reflection, and awareness to notice one’s own biases and privilege, to then take action for social change.”

The Freedom Project

Bringing Yoga to the women of Kerobokan, Bali’s Prison

The Freedom Project is a powerful initiative that seeks to bring the benefits of yoga to incarcerated women in Kerobokan, Bali’s prison.

Through the practice of yoga, these women are able to find a sense of peace and calmness amidst the challenges of prison life.

Yoga has been shown to have numerous benefits for individuals in prison, including reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, improving mental health and well-being, and promoting physical fitness and flexibility.

As one participant in the program notes, “When I do this yoga I move beyond these walls. For a moment I am free.”

“Yoga has been a game-changer for me. It has helped me to find a sense of inner peace and to connect with my body and mind in a way that I never thought possible.”

The Freedom Project is committed to making yoga accessible to women in Kerobokan prison, regardless of their background. To sustain this powerful program, the project invites individuals to sponsor a mat, helping to ensure that the program can continue to bring the transformative benefits of yoga to incarcerated women in Bali.

Join us in unlocking freedom for these women and supporting the valuable work of the Freedom Project.
